Traveling with Coeliac Disease
As a healthy person, I don’t really have to think too much about things which might affect me when I’m traveling (other than taking the necessary precautions against any local diseases such as Malaria, etc). I came across an article the other day though, which made me sit up and take note.
It concerned Coeliac’s and the difficulties they face regarding their diet when traveling overseas. Coeliac Disease is caused by permanent intolerance to gluten which is a protein found mostly in wheat, rye, barley and oats.
Orgran are able to provide free Translation Cards. These cards are available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch and can be used in restaurants etc to explain that you have Coeliac disease and cannot have products containing gluten.
